Palletizer- Nigh Shift (Seasonal) at Peterson Farms Inc – Fort Myers, Florida

Position Overview:

Electric forklift/pallet jack operators work in warehouse environments where their prime duty is to operate forklift and pallet jacks for the purpose of moving items from one place to another. They also double as order pickers and a majority of their time is spent in looking for orders in storage areas.

Their work does not end at operating electric pallets jacks; they are also expected to assist with loading and unloading activities along with ensuring that the right item is selected and that it is transported to the delivery pallet safely.

It is important to know how to perform maintenance activities. At the beginning of each day, it is his duty to make sure that pallet jacks/forklifts are in good working condition and are safe to use.

Electric Forklift/Pallet Jack Operator Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Take orders from supervisors for order picking activities
• Assist in loading and unloading items from delivery trucks
• Prepare pallets for handling items appropriately
• Perform pre checks on forklift/electric pallet jacks to ensure that they are in proper working order
• Perform minor troubleshooting activities when needed
• Ensure that forklift/electric pallet jacks are maintained on a periodic basis
• Pick orders from storage areas and verify the accuracy of order from order sheets
• Count quantity of items asked for by the customer and ensure that any damaged items are isolated and reported to the supervisor immediately
• Operate forklift/electric pallet jack to lift and transport items between production and the warehouse.

• Make sure that all items are boxed and labeled properly
• Transport items to the delivery pallets in a safe and urgent manner
• Make sure that any unusual incidents or accidents are reported to the supervisor immediately
• Ensure that any empty containers are removed from designated locations following a pick task
• Perform a variety of warehousing tasks such as replenishing pick locations
• Perform labeling, sorting and storing of picked products
• Assemble containers and boxes and ensure appropriate maintenance of supplies and equipment

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer and keyboarding skills and have knowledge of and be competent in the use of Inventory and Maintenance Related Software. PLC experience a plus.

Physical Demands:
Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, crawling, or sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work, including twisting and reaching. Climbing stairs, and/or vertical ladders of varying heights. Working in confined work areas and/or elevated heights. Lifting objects of minimum of 10lbs, with maximum single-person lift limit of 50lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying. Adapting to temperature changes, and prolonged exposure to wet, or hot, humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration. Visually inspecting equipment and verifying information, often in small print.

Work Environment:
Work is performed throughout the plant. Mobility to all areas of a multi-level facility. Requires exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, moving equipment, heights, wetness, fumes, vibrations, dust, etc.
