Responsibilities
- Partner with our NPD teams in different development locations (Germany, France, UK) and lead the design and execution of complex FEA simulations on a variety of mechanical components and systems to support product development and innovation.
- Identify, create and model test case simulations based on inputs from agency testing or historical test requirements for products. Test cases should be strongly correlated to historical test data or results, so future predications will be accurate.
- Deploy FEA Techniques - implicit and explicit approach, using Software tools found in ANSYS, such as Discovery, Work Bench, LS dyna, Structural, Thermal, etc.
- Post-process, analyze and interpret results to determine if designs meet customer requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that simulations accurately reflect product behavior and meet project requirements.
- Mentor and guide engineers (Germany, France, UK) on FEA to contribute to their professional development and growth.
- Participate in MSA’s Community of Practice for FEA to assist with the creation and implementation of best practices and standards within the organization.
- Assist with reviews of technical analysis and documentation of other engineers.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry developments and emerging simulation technologies.
- Contribute to the growth and success of the FEA team and the organization as a whole.
- Represent the FEA team and the organization in industry forums and conferences.
Qualifications
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with both internal and external customers on technical and non-technical matters.
- Creative problem-solving and a customer-based perspective
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- German at B1–B2 level or higher
- Fluent English at C1–C2 level
- Solid work load management interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Willingness to work in a hands-on manner.
- Demonstrate advanced analysis (FEA using ANSYS, Cycle Fatigue, Tolerance Analysis, etc.).
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical documentation relating to products and processes.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
- High level of practical experiences on ANSYS, such as Discovery, Work Bench, LS dyna, Structural, Thermal, etc.
- Experience working with our CAD software SolidWorks
