WHAT DOES THE PAYROLL TAX ACCOUNTANT II DO?
The Payroll Tax Accountant II is a critical member of the finance team responsible for managing all aspects of payroll tax compliance and reporting. This role requires a thorough understanding of payroll tax regulations, strong analytical skills, and a high level of attention to detail. The Payroll Tax Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll tax processing, reporting, and reconciliation.

Payroll Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate withholding, reporting, and remittance of payroll taxes.
Tax Reporting: Prepare and submit accurate and timely payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual tax returns, W-2s, 1099s, and other related forms. Reconcile tax filings to payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
Audits and Reconciliations: Assist with internal and external payroll tax audits. Perform regular reconciliations of payroll tax accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
System Maintenance: Collaborate with the payroll and HR teams to ensure payroll systems are accurately set up for tax purposes. Review and update employee tax withholding information as needed.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and automate payroll tax processes. Implement improvements to enhance proficiency and accuracy in tax compliance and reporting.
Communication: Respond to inquiries from government agencies, employees, and internal stakeholders regarding payroll tax matters. Communicated changes in tax regulations and policies to relevant teams.
Research and Analysis: Stay updated on changes in payroll tax laws and regulations. Analyze impact and recommend adjustments to ensure compliance.
Training and Support: Provide training and guidance to payroll and HR teams on payroll tax-related matters. Assist with resolving employee inquiries related to payroll taxes.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of payroll tax filings, correspondence, and compliance documentation.
Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required.
Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience.
Experience with payroll tax software preferred.
Experience with Professional Employer Organization (PEO) a plus.
