About This Position
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Provides general support for the Facilities Department. Assists the existing team with building maintenance tasks, plumbing and electrical projects, custodial functions, and grounds maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Facilities Department is comprised of teams that are responsible for building and grounds maintenance, plumbing, electrical, and custodial. The purpose of this position is to assist Facility Department teams with their assigned duties. These duties include, but are not limited to:
- Disassembles bins, totes, and portable equipment for cleaning.
- Scrubs machines, tanks, tables, pans, bowls, bins and totes. Rinses articles with water and dries them with compressed air.
- Responsible for cleaning the washroom and dry room.
- Performs general groundskeeping tasks which may include but not limited to mowing, weed eating, tree trimming, etc.
- Perform building maintenance tasks which may include but are not limited to, HVAC filter changes, minor wall repair and painting, applying sealant to floors, etc.
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs, bathrooms, common areas, and office space.
- Empties light trash and light garbage containers.
- Cleans bathrooms.
- Wipes down counters, tables, and chairs in breakrooms. Cleans the microwave and coffee machine. Runs and empties dishwasher. Replenishes supplies in breakroom (paper towels, soap, coffee grounds and condiments, etc.)
- Assist plumbing team with daily repairs and projects.
- Assist electrical team with daily repairs and projects.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties summarized above and possess the skills and competencies summarized herein. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three months related experience and/or training.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate a powerlift, production equipment such as liquid pumps.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Must be able to (i) read and understand technical documents, such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; (ii) write routine reports and correspondence; (iii) effectively communicate information and respond to questions, orally and in writing, in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL AND CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret bar graphs. Ability to perform operations using weight measurement and volume.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally move up to 1600 pounds using a manual pallet jack.
