Job Title: Night Shift Registered Nurse – Rehabilitation Unit

Position Summary

The Night Shift Registered Nurse provides safe, high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals on the rehabilitation unit during overnight hours. This role is critical in ensuring patient safety, continuity of care, and progress toward rehabilitation goals through ongoing assessment, treatment administration, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to rehabilitation patients during night hours
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring of physical and psychosocial status
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies as ordered, following established clinical protocols
  • Recognize, respond to, and escalate changes in patient condition appropriately
  • Ensure patient safety, including fall prevention and safe mobility assistance
  • Support patients with mobility, self-care activities, and rehabilitation goals
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team (physicians, therapists, case managers, and support staff) to maintain continuity of care
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and progress in the electronic medical record
  • Contribute to discharge planning by reinforcing care plans and patient education as appropriate
  • Uphold unit standards, regulatory requirements, and Sinai Health System values
Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN required; BSN preferred)
  • Previous experience in rehabilitation, medical-surgical, or acute care nursing preferred
  • Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and compassionate service
