Full-Time | Non-Exempt | Production Department
WDRB, the FOX affiliate in Louisville, is seeking a Director / Photographer to join our Production team. This hybrid role plays a key part in live newscast production while also supporting the News department as a photographer, with a focus on sports and weekend coverage.
Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the Director / Photographer is overseeing studio and control room operations during live newscasts. This role will occasionally operate in the Technical Director chair, running automation control as needed. When not directing newscasts, the position works closely with the News department as a photographer, primarily shooting sports and weekend news content.
This position reports to the Manager of Production and does not have direct reports.
Essential Functions
- Work closely with Producers to prepare newscasts using iNews and Ross OverDrive automation
- Stage manage and operate OverDrive during live productions
- Occasionally operate automation control from the Technical Director position
- Monitor and adjust audio levels during newscasts
- Adjust and operate PTZ cameras before and during live broadcasts
- Shoot sports and weekend news content as a photographer
- Edit promos and content using non-linear editing software
- Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements: Qualifications- Strong knowledge and understanding of digital video and audio applications
- Experience with Microsoft Office and file-based workflows
- Knowledge of and experience with non-linear editing systems
- Familiarity with Windows-based operating systems and media applications preferred
- Willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, ever-changing broadcast environment
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Education: High school diploma required; college degree or coursework toward a degree preferred
- Experience: Some directing, shooting, and editing experience preferred
- Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft applications and Windows operating systems; knowledge of Windows-based media applications is a plus
