About This Position
Description:
Job Description
This position is for a detail-oriented and energetic Industrial Engineering Technologist to work with the Industrial Engineering team and operations departments to improve efficiency and quality and eliminate waste in the manufacturing process. This role will develop creative solutions to support boat production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing processes, systems, and workflows to identify areas for improvement. Collect data, conduct time studies, and utilize various analytical tools to evaluate production methods and suggest enhancements.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new systems and processes, considering factors such as equipment layout, workflow optimization, and resource allocation. Collaborate with engineers, managers, and other stakeholders to develop efficient and effective systems.
- Design, develop, test, and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
- Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.
- Analyze labor utilization and work methods to enhance productivity and reduce costs. This involves designing efficient workstations, developing standardized procedures, and implementing ergonomic principles to minimize worker fatigue and improve safety.
- Collect and analyze data related to production output, efficiency, and other performance metrics. Use statistical techniques and data visualization tools to identify trends, generate reports, and present findings to management and stakeholders.
Skills and Abilities for Success in this Position:
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to work closely with all members of the organization.
- Understanding of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques and Quality Control processes.
- Strong problem analysis and problem resolution.
- Must be a well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge, Education, and Experience Required/or Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GED is required; post-secondary technical certificates are preferred.
- Experience performing Time studies, creating Material and Labor Models, creating Manufacturing Bill of Materials.
- Hands-on experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred.
- Boat Building knowledge or Marine manufacturing background preferred.
