About This Position

The Town of Penetanguishene is a picturesque bilingual community with a population of approximately 10,000, located on the southerly tip of beautiful Georgian Bay. We have openings for Recreation Labourers this summer. Working under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Recreation Labourers will assist with the operation and maintenance of Town parks and properties to ensure that they are operating in good condition and safe for public use.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Grass cutting and trimming.
  • Maintenance of trails and grooming of ball diamonds
  • Garbage collection
  • Maintenance and repairs to playground structures and amenities
  • Daily opening and closing of washrooms and parks facilities.
  • Assist with the set-up and take down of special events, as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid G2 Ontario Driver’s License
  • Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
  • Working knowledge of grass cutting equipment, sports field maintenance, trail maintenance and basic gardening is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to receive direction and carry out duties with little supervision.
  • Good time management skills, punctual and responsible
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
  • Previous work experience in landscaping or related is an asset.

Compensation: The hourly wage rate for this role is $18.27,(2025 rate) plus 4% vacation pay, based on a 40-hour work week. This position involves outdoor work in various weather conditions. The successful candidate must supply their own CSA approved safety boots.
