The Role

We are looking for a Compliance Manager to join our Sustainability, Certification and Compliance team. This role is based out of Blacks Harbour, NB and will report to our Chief Sustainability Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee environmental monitoring and compliance programs for freshwater and saltwater sites
  • Review water quality sampling, fallow reports, and environmental data submissions
  • Prepare and review license, lease, and Approval to Operate (ATO) applications; maintain accurate site information and regulatory documentation
  • Regulatory compliance reporting to provincial and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Track and update environmental data, incident logs, and operational reports; compile summaries for leadership
  • Assist in updating, publishing and distributing specific procedures, plans and documents as required in coordination with team above and the Certification Team to ensure regulatory and 3rd party certification compliance.
  • Liaise with internal teams and regulatory agencies on applications, reporting, and special projects
  • Support industry meetings, stocking applications, and environmental initiatives as required
  • Participate in internal and external certification audits, facilitating corrective actions with farm managers to ensure responses are submitted by set deadlines. Participate as needed with other 3rd party audits/information gathering events as required.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of environmental compliance and aquaculture operations
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, Outlook)
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with regulatory agencies and internal teams
  • Familiarity with freshwater and saltwater aquaculture operations considered an asset
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and environmental monitoring preferred
