Duties and Responsibilities

As an Automatic Side Arm Loader Driver, your primary responsibilities include:

• Operate an Automatic Side Load Truck: Safely operate a side arm refuse truck on assigned residential routes
• Route Completion: Complete daily routes efficiently within scheduled timeframes
• Automated Waste Collection: Use hydraulic side-arm controls to lift, empty, and return residential carts to proper placement
• Manual Collection as Needed: Exit the truck when required to manually collect, hand-load, reposition carts, collect overflow, or service areas where automated collection is not possible
• Customer Service: Maintain professional interactions with residents and respond courteously to service-related concerns
• Safety & Compliance: Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures at all times
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate hydraulic and mechanical systems associated with side arm loaders
• Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report maintenance or safety concerns immediately
• Clean & Professional Operation: Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and surrounding service areas
• Physical Activity: Perform tasks requiring bending, climbing in and out of the truck, and occasional manual handling of carts or debris

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid CDL: Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License required with a clean driving record
• DOT Medical Card: Current and valid DOT medical certification
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Mechanical Awareness: Basic understanding of vehicle systems for daily inspections
• Customer Service Skills: Strong communication and professionalism when interacting with residents
• Team-Oriented: Ability to work independently while supporting team and operational goals

Job Type

• Full-Time

Schedule

• Monday – Friday, with occasional Saturdays based on route volume and seasonal needs
• Typical Hours: 50–60 hours per week
• Start Times: Early morning start required; overtime flexibility expected
