Part-Time Community Canvassing Assistant
10 hours a week Hourly: $16.00 + mileage

Since 2016, Pawsperity has been helping uplift families from generational poverty through job training in the art of dog grooming. Pawsperity serves some of the community’s most vulnerable members, including individuals often coming from backgrounds of domestic violence, addiction, incarceration, and homelessness.

Position Summary:

Pawsperity is seeking a dependable, entry-level Community Canvassing Assistant to support outreach efforts throughout the Kansas City metro area. This role is responsible for engaging local businesses, community organizations, and residents to share information about Pawsperity’s programs and services, build community awareness, and generate leads for follow-up by the internal team.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with people, working independently, and representing a mission-driven organization in the community.
Key Responsibilities
Community Outreach
  • Conduct site-based canvassing across assigned Kansas City metro
  • Introduce Pawsperity’s mission, programs, and opportunities to businesses and community members
  • Distribute approved marketing materials and informational resources
  • Represent the organization professionally and positively at all times

Lead Generation & Documentation
  • Collect contact information and relevant notes from interested individuals or businesses
  • Maintain accurate daily outreach logs
  • Submit reports summarizing locations visited, contacts made, and outcomes

Event & Campaign Support
  • Assist with flyering, tabling, and grassroots marketing efforts
  • Support targeted outreach campaigns aligned with enrollment, partnerships, or community engagement goals

Qualifications
Required
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable initiating conversations with new people
  • Reliable transportation to travel throughout the Kansas City metro area
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated

Preferred (Not Required)
  • Prior customer service, sales, or outreach experience
  • Familiarity with the Kansas City metro area

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk several miles per shift
