Field Service Technician- DK Energy Services
JOB TITLE: Field Service Technician I
DEPARTMENT: Sales (Upstream or Downstream)
REPORTS TO: District Manager or Sales Manager
SUMMARY: This position will support field sales in the day-to-day operation of Dorf Ketal key programs and chemical application at designated customer locations. As a Field Service Technician, you are responsible for your safety and the safety of those around you. The primary responsibilities of the job are sampling, testing, inventory management, chemical handling and transfers, coordinating & supervising deliveries, data management and record keeping, troubleshooting, repairing and maintenance of all injection equipment and company owned storage equipment. You will also be expected to establish good working relationships with customer operations and engineering personnel. Good written and verbal communication skill are important. This position creates value for Dorf Ketal by ensuring our programs achieve the results promised and expected ROI. This is an entry-level role, working under the close supervision of senior personnel and reporting to either the District Manager or Sales Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct routine and non-routine sampling of the process in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs routine testing of the process to verify that key performance parameters for the chemical programs are being met. Report results and observations to the Site Lead or Account Manager and communicate basic trouble shooting steps taken or process changes made.
- Manage the onsite inventory for all chemical applications ensuring that there are adequate supplies of chemistry on hand for the daily/weekly and monthly demands of the application. Assist in order management, handling, and transfer of chemical on site. Maintain accurate inventory and usage records for each application and maintain a working inventory report for the site.
- Coordinate and supervise all deliveries on site and in addition to conducting the unloading of chemical into bulk storage and or Tote containers into the designated storage areas.
- Maintain repair and replace all chemical injection pumps and facilities to ensure the right amount of chemical can be delivered into the process when needed. As needed, be able to erect and assemble pipe up new chemical injection facilities.
- Maintain adequate spare/backup pumps and equipment to ensure smooth operation. Ensures that all work performed meets required codes (OSHA, City and Federal) and is in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
- Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, face shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves and aprons.
- Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials and work area.
- Responsible for providing coverage in the absence of other Field Service Technicians.
- Support and assist in implementing and maintaining certified management systems ascribed to DK such as ISO 9001. Identify training needs of personnel. Promote awareness of risks and opportunities associated with their work. Maintain an understanding of the Quality policy and how they personally contribute to meeting DK objectives and goals.
- Support and assist in implementing and maintaining the RCMS program. Identify training needs of personnel. Promote awareness of the RCMS guiding principles and Dorf Ketal's HSSE policy, objectives and goals in addition to how they can contribute to them.
- Other projects as required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong mechanical repair/troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate willingness and comfort working safely in a laboratory environment. Must have a basic knowledge of simple chemical reactions and be able to distinguish between acids and bases knowing the safety measure to deploy.
- Functional knowledge of mechanical components (valves, pipe fittings, bearings, motors, gearboxes, etc.).
- Ability to read and/or interpret simple laboratory tests and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization both written and verbal; includes building relationships with team lead and department Manager.
- Be able to perform basic reading and arithmetic problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Be willing and able to learn simple math, including simple volume calculations.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, job related internet research and ability to learn software for daily usage.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with focus on attention to detail.
- Be able to work both independently and in a team, environment completing objectives efficiently with a sense of responsibility.
- Be able to safely complete the physical tasks associated with the essential job functions. These tasks include extensive climbing, walking, lifting, bending, standing, carrying and squatting.
- Be able and willing to work in non-ideal environments such as: confined spaces, working at heights, dusty/dirty and around chemicals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical/vocational training and understanding of basic Refining, Petrochemical plant operations preferred
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Work Conditions:
This position requires working in an outdoor environment, often in remote locations and/or with exposure to extreme weather conditions, moderate to loud noise levels. Employees will need to be able to stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, bend, feel with hands and fingers, push, pull, reach, walk, stand, climb (stairs/ladders/equipment,) lift (up to 50 lbs.), and communicate effectively with colleagues and clients via phone, email, and in-person interactionsScan to Apply
