Overview
Legacy Health is seeking a dual-trained neurovascular neurosurgeon to join its growing Department of Neurosurgery in Portland, Oregon. Successful candidates will be able to deliver the full spectrum of vascular neurosurgical care, from emergency stroke intervention and aneurysm treatment to elective complex cerebrovascular procedures. The surgeon will participate in the call rotation for emergency neurovascular cases, perform open vascular and endovascular / neurointerventional procedures, collaborate with the existing neurosurgery team on complex cases requiring vascular expertise, and maintain an outpatient elective practice. Responsibilities
- Provides adult and ED call coverage. Be available for STAT consultation at bedside within 30 minutes.
- Provides outpatient follow-up for patients seen in ED.
- Reasonable participation in outreach/education to referring hospitals and providers. Provides patient follow-up to referring physicians via phone and letter to build program relationships and continuity of patient care.
- Complies with policies, procedures and protocols developed by the Trauma Service and approved by the Trauma Executive Committee.
- Physician shall not participate in another hospital’s neurosurgery emergency call schedule while on Legacy Emanuel Medical Center neuro trauma 1st call schedule. Physician may be on concurrent call schedules at Emanuel Medical Center only.
- Physician shall undertake duties under the direction and guidance of the Clinical Vice President Surgical Specialty Services, including establishing and servicing off-campus clinics.
- Attendance by physician at a minimum of 60% of the following meetings each quarter:
Neurosurgery QA. Weekly Trauma Conferences if participating in Trauma care, CME Conferences related to Neurosurgery. - Submits diagnostic and procedural information for billing purposes in a timely manner.
- Provides patient data and outcome information as mandated by State Trauma and Legacy Trauma Services.
- Assists in covering the pediatric neurosurgery service commensurate with training and experience.
- Provides professional services in collaboration with and be accountable to the administrative leadership of the Clinical Vice President Surgical Specialty Services.
Qualifications
- Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent.
- Board eligible/certified in Neurosurgery by the ABS.
- Extensive experience in the clinical care of neuro surgical emergent and elective patients, including trauma.
- Demonstrated organizational/management skills in areas of program development, QA/QI, research, medical staff functions, and personal management.
- Experience in graduate or continuing medical education desirable.
