The Monarch San Antonio – A Legacy of Service and Sophistication
The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Position Overview

The Barback supports bartenders by maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar while helping ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role plays an important part in delivering a seamless and elevated guest experience by anticipating needs and supporting the bar team throughout service.

What You’ll Do

Bar Support & Operations

• Stock the bar with liquor, glassware, ice, and necessary supplies before and during service
• Replenish garnishes, mixers, and ingredients to keep service running smoothly
• Assist bartenders with service needs to maintain efficiency during peak periods

Cleanliness & Organization

• Maintain cleanliness of bar areas, equipment, and service stations
• Remove empty glassware and clear surfaces promptly
• Ensure all bar areas remain organized and presentation-ready

Opening & Closing Duties

• Assist with bar setup prior to service and breakdown at the end of shifts
• Restock and prepare the bar for the next service period

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service standards
• Maintain compliance with TABC and hotel policies

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned to support bar and hotel operations
• Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role

What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Previous bar or restaurant experience preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks
• Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
• Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Professional appearance and adherence to grooming standards

Licenses or Certifications

• TABC Certification required
