Direct Support Professional (DSP)-Klamath CountyPosition SummaryNorth Star Oregon LLC is seeking compassionate and reliable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in home, community, and day program settings. As a DSP, you will assist individuals in achieving their personal goals, promoting independence, and participating fully in their communities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
- Facilitate engagement in community-based activities, including recreational outings, appointments, and skill-building opportunities.
- Promote and respect individual choice, dignity, and self-determination.
- Support individuals with vocational, social, and life skills development in accordance with person-centered support plans.
- Complete required documentation (e.g., progress notes, incident reports, attendance logs) accurately and timely.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment following agency policies and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with families, guardians, and other care team members to ensure holistic support.
- Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively, following individualized support and crisis plans.
- Prior experience working with individuals with I/DD or in caregiving roles.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid and Oregon Intervention System (OIS) (or willingness to obtain).
- Familiarity with Oregon-specific reporting and care standards for Medicaid-funded programs.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to individual needs.
- Respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Commitment to person-centered and trauma-informed care.
- May include evening, weekend, overnight, and holiday shifts.
- Work occurs in a variety of settings: private homes, group homes, day programs, and community locations.
- Involves standing, walking, lifting, and exposure to various environments.

Qualifications - Required
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass a criminal background check through the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS).
Basic computer literacy for electronic documentation and communication.
Physical ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed.
