JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supporting and executing supply planning activities to ensure uninterrupted material flow, alignment with customer demand, and achievement of service, inventory, and cost objectives. This role manages supply plans, monitors inventory performance, collaborates with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. Depending on experience level, the position may focus on transactional execution, independent planning and shortage management, or advanced planning governance, analytics, and supply risk mitigation.
Essential Functions:
- Execute and support supply planning activities including purchase order management, system updates, and data maintenance
- Analyze demand and supply signals to support material availability and production continuity
- Monitor inventory levels and manage supply risks including shortages, past due orders, and excess inventory
- Adjust purchase orders, schedules, and planning parameters based on demand variability and supplier performance
- Coordinate with suppliers to confirm delivery commitments and resolve supply disruptions
- Track and report key supply chain metrics including inventory levels, service performance, and supplier delivery adherence
- Identify root causes of supply disruptions and support corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate planning data including material master, lead times, safety stock, and lot sizes within ERP systems
- Support and participate in engineering changes, phase in and phase out activities, and new product launches
- Collaborate cross functionally with Procurement, Operations, Logistics, Quality, and Finance teams to resolve supply issues
- Participating in supplier performance reviews and support supplier development initiatives
- Drive data accuracy, system compliance, and adherence to planning and governance standards
- Support or lead process improvement initiatives to enhance planning efficiency and inventory optimization
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and performance tracking tools to support decision making
- Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to junior team members based on experience level
- Support escalation management and provide visibility to risks impacting supply continuity
Knowledge:
- Basic to advanced understanding of supply planning, inventory management, and material flow concepts
- Knowledge of ERP and MRP systems with increasing depth based on experience
- Understanding of supplier management, logistics, and demand planning integration
- Knowledge of data integrity, planning parameters, and system governance practices
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret data and drive decisions
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Effective communication and coordination skills across cross functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively based on role level
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive resolution of supply issues
- Strong organizational and planning skills to manage complex scenarios.
Experience:
Procurement Planner 1:
- 0–2 years in supply chain, materials, procurement planning, or operations (SAP exposure preferred).
- Experience executing ERP/MRP transactions (purchase orders, confirmations, master data maintenance) preferred.
- Experience working with suppliers and logistics partners (tracking shipments, acknowledgements, and receipts) preferred.
Procurement Planner 2:
- 3–5+ years in material planning / supply planning / materials management with independent MRP execution responsibilities.
- Experience managing shortages/past dues, supplier recovery plans, and expediting to protect customer service.
- SAP (or similar ERP) planning experience preferred, including parameter maintenance (lead times, safety stock, lot sizes) and exception resolution.
Procurement Planner 3:
- 5–7+ years in planning/materials management, including mastery of mid-level planner scope (MRP execution, shortage management, supplier performance management).
- Demonstrated experience with planning governance and continuous improvement (parameter audits, standard work, system best practices).
- Advanced analytics and cross-functional leadership experience (inventory optimization, KPI dashboarding, complex supplier escalations, major engineering changes).
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in operations, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration preferred.
