Schedule
This position is in-person and part-time (25 hours per week). The hours of childcare are 7am-6pm so flexibility in scheduling is needed.
Job Summary
FamilyWise is hiring a Childcare Teacher to lead classroom activities, supports children’s development, and creates a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment. This role is responsible for lesson planning, developmental assessments, and building strong relationships with both children and their families, while guiding Aides in daily classroom operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement weekly or biweekly lesson plans aligned with Creative Curriculum.
- Assess children’s development and tailor activities to meet individual needs.
- Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate activities (indoor and outdoor).
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times.
- Follow all Rule 3 licensing regulations.
- Maintain current required trainings (CPR/First Aid, SIDS/AHT, curriculum and assessment training).
- Build positive relationships with families through daily communication and conferences.
- Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
- Promote healthy habits, including nutrition and personal hygiene.
- Provide guidance and support to Teacher Aides in classroom activities.
- Complete daily documentation (health checks, reports, meal counts, inspection checklists).
- Conduct quarterly Creative Curriculum assessments.
- Partner with Child Development Specialists to hold family conferences.
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the classroom.
Who You Are
- You meet Rule 3 licensing requirements for education and experience.
- You have experience working with children and understand early childhood development.
- You’re comfortable working with culturally and racially diverse communities, including families facing economic challenges.
- You stay organized and can manage multiple responsibilities without losing track of details.
- You communicate professionally and value strong customer service.
- You handle conflict with patience, clarity, and good judgment.
- You’re comfortable using basic computer programs like Microsoft Office.
- You build positive relationships with coworkers and contribute to a team-focused environment.
- You can work independently while also collaborating effectively with others.
- You understand the scope of your role and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
- You speak more than one language (a plus, not required).
- Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet FamilyWise’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
