Job Description
Under the clinical direction of a radiologist and general supervision of Patient Access Director performs and assists with workflow and modality coordination, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Perform a variety of administrative tasks that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to maximize patient flow. Assume responsibility for assisting with patient care and patient safety. Perform other related duties within the job classification or organization, as necessary.
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am- 5:00pm
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with the Patient Access Director to identify tasks to improve workflow and patient retention.
• Review schedules to identify appropriate documentation of orders, CPT codes, authorization, prep, and prior imaging.
• Explain proper preparation to patients prior to procedure and verify and/or obtain appropriate patient RX or verbal order (VO) pertinent to examinations ordered.
• Schedule/reschedule exams as needed to meet the needs of the practice or patient.
• Operate and understand all computer systems and PACS systems.
• Ensure patient modesty, confidentiality, and privacy.
• Communicate effectively with referrals to ensure prompt and accurate ordering, completion of exam, and reporting via fax, written and verbal means.
• Retrieve prior images
• Always maintain patient care standards to ensure reliable and accurate imaging and quality of patient care via direct contact with staff.
• Contribute to and maintain good working rapport with all patients, personnel, physicians, and radiologists to ensure that the organization's objectives can effectively meet the needs of patients and physicians.
• Assure that patient rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, and civil rights are maintained.
• Maintain confidentiality of all classified, sensitive information, and records, including patient care information, salary, wages, and benefits.
• Contribute to an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis throughout the organization.
• Assure formal introduction of self by name to all patients and address patient by name in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner assuring treatment of all patients with warmth, dignity, and consideration.
• Follow established policies and procedures, including safety and precautions.
• Report all unsafe, hazardous conditions, and defective equipment to supervisor immediately.
• Assure that work areas are maintained in a neat, safe, clean, and orderly fashion.
• Assist with quality control duties and assignments as required.
• Attend and participate in-service educational classes, seminars, staff meetings and on-the-job training programs as required.
• Perform other related duties within the job classification or organization as necessary or as assigned by a radiologist, staff technologist, center and modality leads, and Imaging Services Operations Manager.
• All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:• Required: High School Diploma or GED
• Required: Medical Terminology
• Preferred: Radiology scheduling/experience
• Preferred: medical training program that included medical and anatomy terminology
• Preferred: certified medical assistant
