Position: Human Resources Manager
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Role
Oversee, maintain, and advance the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and assessing employee relations and HR policies, programs, and practices. Foster a positive workplace through targeted engagement initiatives, staff development, and open communication. Lead all aspects of the employee lifecycle—including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding—to build a motivated workforce. Work closely with leadership to strengthen management capabilities, coach people leaders, resolve conflicts, and support career growth. Promote a culture of inclusion, recognition, and accountability to increase staff satisfaction and organizational success.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the full HR lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, training, employee engagement, performance management, and offboarding. Support managers with recruitment and selection processes, ensure adherence to hiring, termination, and performance management protocols, and assist with onboarding best practices.
- Administer payroll processing, benefits, leaves, and attendance, ensuring accuracy, compliance with deadlines, and legislative requirements. Provide expertise for equitable wage increases, job offers, and review wage ranges to remain competitive in the market.
- Manage and maintain HRIS infrastructure, utilizing ADP Workforce Now for payroll, reporting, and troubleshooting. Continuously improve HRIS processes and maximize system capabilities.
- Advise managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices to foster a positive, compliant workplace culture. Maintain employee records and support career pathing and internal growth.
- Handle employee relations, including investigations, conflict resolution, and complaints, ensuring fairness and confidentiality. Conduct coaching, mentoring, and proactively review performance management documentation and evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment laws, health and safety regulations, WCB, OHS requirements, and company standards. Maintain policies and procedures to create a safe, people-focused organization.
- Develop and deliver HR-related training and communications to staff and management. Execute HR projects and initiatives to improve employee experience, staff morale, turnover, and organizational effectiveness. Review organizational structure to meet business demands.
- Communicate with the Senior Team and Director of HR on assigned projects and initiatives to align with organizational goals and impact overall organizational health.

- Demonstrates the capacity to manage extensive information while upholding confidentiality and maintaining professionalism.
- Retail apparel industry HR experience is highly preferred.
- Previous exposure to large-volume recruitment and seasonal workforce management.
- Experience supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in the workplace.
- Office-based with travel to retail locations as required.
- Availability to support payroll and HR initiatives during peak periods, including semi-annual payroll processing cycles.
- Ability to work on your feet, and work in demanding situations
- Able to work evenings and weekends based on business needs
Qualifications
- Certificate or degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of HR experience, ideally within retail apparel
- ADP Workforce Now expertise essential
- Familiarity with Canadian payroll and employment law
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Meticulous, discreet, and confidential
