DETAILS ABOUT THE ROLE, REQUIRMENTS, BENEFITS, AND HOW TO APPLY
Position Summary:
Prepares sample for lab analysis using metalworking tools. Determines proper method of preparation for lab analysis. Under general direction, ship goods ensuring their effective, efficient and safe transportation. Ensures that materials shipped and received are verified against pertinent documentation.
Primary Responsibilities/Key Attributes*:
Sample Preparation
- Physically prepare various types of materials for lab analysis in a timely fashion using methods such as milling, drilling, chopping, kelmelt, j-melt, etc. in accordance with written SOP.
- Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools.
- Log and store samples.
- Ensures samples do not become contaminated or mixed during preparation.
- Determine the proper preparation necessary based on the type of sample submitted and routing of sample.
Shipping and Receiving
- Receive all inbound freight via UPS, Fed-Ex, Airborne, and land carriers and match paperwork.
- Track supplies received and distribute to requisitioner in a timely manner.
- Notify requisitioner of all backordered items or items not received (within two weeks of purchase order date).
- Deliver samples to sample submission department.
- Verify billing invoices for freight.
- Notify vendors and/or process freight claims for lost or damaged freight.
- Determine cost effective shipping methods, contact carriers and prepare items for shipment.
- Prepare paperwork for sample returns, pull samples from storage bins and ship back to customer.
- Maintain detailed tracking records of outgoing shipments.
- Run mail through the postage machine and drop off in the mail box or take to the post office when necessary.
- Submit check requests to Accounting for additional postage for postage machine and provide monthly total of postage charges for the month to Accounting.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist maintenance department
- Maintains inventory of supplies for common areas of the organization including gases.
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Collect and remove trash from offices.
