Product Development Associate

About the Role

The Product Development Associate supports the development, maintenance, and performance monitoring of insurance products across assigned lines of business and states. This role partners closely with Product, Underwriting, Actuarial, IT, Compliance, and Operations to help implement product changes, support regulatory filings, analyze performance trends, perform deep dive analytics and ensure product accuracy throughout the lifecycle.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional interested in building a strong foundation in insurance product management, regulatory processes, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Market Research

  • Support product development initiatives through research on market trends, competitor filings, and bureau (ISO/AAIS) circulars.
  • Assist in gathering and documenting data to support product enhancements and lifecycle management.
  • Perform basic analysis of product performance metrics such as mix of business, referral rates, bind ratios, and production results.

Requirements, Delivery & Testing

  • Create tickets and assist in drafting clear business requirements for rate, rule, and workflow changes under guidance from Product leadership.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) by executing assigned test cases and validating system changes.
  • Document testing results and escalate issues or defects as appropriate.

Regulatory & Filing Support

  • Assist in preparing insurance product filings for assigned states and components with oversight from senior team members.
  • Support the management of state insurance department filings, including updates to rates, rules, and forms.
  • Research state-specific regulations, cancellation laws, and compliance requirements.

Data & Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor and track key product performance indicators.
  • Organize performance trends and insights for Product Team review.
  • Assist in identifying data discrepancies or emerging patterns requiring further analysis.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Underwriting, Actuarial, Compliance, IT, and Operations teams to support product updates and implementations.
  • Respond to product-related questions from agents, internal stakeholders, and regulators by researching documentation and requirements.
  • Support governance processes for existing rates, rules, and forms.

Operational & Workflow Support

  • Assist with documenting product and underwriting workflows and enhancements.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across product processes.
  • Help maintain internal product documentation, controls, and audit materials.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, insurance, economics, analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Basic analytical skills and comfort working with data and performance metrics.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in insurance, underwriting, product management, compliance, or regulatory support.
  • Familiarity with P&C insurance products, ISO/AAIS materials, or state insurance filings.
  • Experience supporting system changes, testing, or business requirements documentation.

This position is being hired with a flexible work location and may be filled at either an entry or skilled level, commensurate with experience.
