This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives on ensuring product quality and reliability from prototype to post-market stages. The Reliability Test Engineer will design, execute, and analyze reliability testing programs, addressing technical risks and performance variability across product lines. This position works closely with cross-functional teams including failure analysis, R&D, and manufacturing to support new product introductions, ongoing product validation, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires strong technical skills in mechanical, environmental, and materials testing, as well as proficiency in interpreting complex data to recommend corrective actions. You will directly impact product performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction, while collaborating in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Accountabilities:- Develop and execute reliability test plans for new production and sustaining products across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Support ongoing reliability test activities, including mechanical stress, shock, vibration, and environmental/climatic testing.
- Collaborate with failure analysis teams to characterize root causes and assess corrective actions for product or process issues.
- Collect, analyze, and report test results to engineering, R&D, and product teams to support decision-making and regulatory filings.
- Assist supplier qualification processes by evaluating new or modified components, materials, or processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to mitigate design or manufacturing risks, enhance product reliability, and reduce costs.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering teams to ensure reliability insights inform design, production, and sustaining efforts.
Requirements:
- BS degree in a technical field or equivalent industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a Reliability Test Engineer or equivalent role.
- Proficiency in reliability testing, mechanical stress tests, shock/vibration testing, and environmental testing.
- Experience with failure analysis and related tools such as SEM/EDS, CT X-Ray, XRF, FTIR, and mechanical cross-sectioning.
- Strong knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE) methodology and industry testing standards.
- Hands-on experience with general engineering, mechanical tools, and light machine shop tools.
- Familiarity with manufacturing technologies, PCB materials, component packages, and material forming processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering data, communicate technical findings, and recommend corrective actions.
- Experience in consumer electronics is preferred but not required.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
