Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Master Electrician is responsible for executing and leading electrical maintenance activities at Pinto Valley Mine to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role supports asset reliability and availability through effective application of maintenance practices aligned with site standards and the Asset Maintenance Framework.
The position works closely with maintenance, planning, and operations teams to diagnose issues, maintain system performance, and ensure continuity of critical electrical systems in both field and shop environments.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
• Electrical Maintenance: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems in accordance with technical procedures, safety standards, and design specifications.
• Planning & Coordination: Coordinate labor, materials, and resources to ensure continuity and efficiency of electrical systems supporting critical equipment.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Diagnose and resolve faults in power, control, and distribution systems using testing, measurement, and interpretation of technical data.
• System Monitoring: Inspect and maintain electrical equipment including transformers, motors, and protection systems to ensure proper operation and calibration.
• Safety & LOTO Compliance: Execute electrical isolation, energization, and lockout/tagout procedures to protect personnel and equipment.
• Maintenance Integration: Coordinate with planning and reliability teams on scheduled work, ensuring availability of parts, tools, and resources.
• Testing & Reporting: Validate test results, document field measurements, and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
• Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on maintenance performance, including adherence to plans, schedules, and operational targets.
• Procedures & Continuous Improvement: Support development and review of electrical procedures and contribute to improvements in maintenance practices.
• Incident Support: Assist in investigation of electrical incidents and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required
• Technical degree or certification in Electrical, Electronics, or related field
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in electrical maintenance in mining or heavy industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, power distribution, motor drives, and controls
• Experience with diagnostics, testing, insulation testing, and fault analysis
• Knowledge of electrical safety practices, including LOTO procedures
• Experience with SAP or similar maintenance management systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
Preferred
• Experience with frequency converters and electrical protection systems
• Experience in maintenance planning and reliability coordination
• Advanced experience interpreting technical drawings and specifications
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Majority field-based role with some office work in an active mining operation
• Working around high-voltage equipment and energized systems
• Walking on uneven ground and navigating industrial work areas
• Exposure to dust, noise, heat, and varying weather conditions
• Work around mobile equipment and moving machinery
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in operational areas
All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
