Position Overview: The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing field operations related to the remediation, structural repair, and maintenance of utility structures, including lattice towers and associated infrastructure. This role provides hands-on leadership while supervising crews performing concrete foundation repairs, structural steel repairs, demolition, jackhammering, reinforcement installation, and related restoration activities. The Supervisor ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering specifications, utility standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Field Supervision & Leadership
    • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of field crews performing structural remediation and repair work on utility structures.
    • Assign tasks and monitor productivity to ensure alignment with project schedules and scope.
    • Provide hands-on leadership in structural steel repair, foundation restoration, and concrete remediation.
    • Conduct daily job hazard analyses (JHAs) and safety meetings specific to utility and structural work environments.
    • Enforce compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and utility-specific safety requirements.
    • Train and mentor crew members in proper repair techniques and safe equipment operation.
  • Utility Structure Remediation & Repair
    • Oversee repair and reinforcement of lattice towers, structural steel members, bracing systems, and connection points.
    • Supervise removal and replacement of damaged steel components, anchor bolts, and base plates.
    • Manage concrete foundation repairs including spall repair, crack repair, epoxy injection, grouting, and full or partial foundation replacement.
    • Coordinate jackhammering and demolition of deteriorated concrete around tower foundations.
    • Supervise installation of reinforcing steel, formwork, and concrete placement for structural restoration.
    • Oversee corrosion mitigation efforts including surface preparation, grinding, cleaning, and protective coating support.
    • Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and structural integrity of repaired components.
  • General Construction & Site Work
    • Supervise site preparation activities including excavation, grading, and backfilling around utility structures.
    • Coordinate use of heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, lifts, and cranes.
    • Oversee installation of concrete pads, piers, or structural supports associated with tower infrastructure.
    • Manage material staging, tool inventory, and jobsite housekeeping in remote or right-of-way locations.
    • Coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, and utility representatives.
  • Project Coordination & Documentation
    • Review engineering drawings, repair details, and work orders prior to mobilization.
    • Coordinate with Project Managers and utility clients to ensure compliance with scope and schedule.
    • Track labor hours, equipment utilization, and material quantities.
    • Identify field conditions that may impact structural integrity, safety, or schedule and report promptly.
    • Maintain accurate daily reports, safety documentation, and production logs.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure all repairs meet engineering specifications and utility standards.
    • Conduct quality control inspections throughout repair phases.
    • Enforce proper PPE usage, fall protection, and confined space protocols when applicable.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental and right-of-way regulations.
    • Maintain tools and equipment in safe working conditions.
Qualifications
  • Required:
    • 5+ years of experience in structural remediation, utility construction, or tower repair.
    • 2+ years of supervisory or foreman experience.
    • Strong knowledge of concrete repair, structural steel repair, and demolition techniques.
    • Experience operating or supervising the use of jackhammers, saws, grinders, lifts, and light heavy equipment.
    • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and repair specifications.
    • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and fall protection requirements.
    • Valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience working on transmission or distribution infrastructure.
    • OSHA 30 certification.
    • Experience working in energized utility environments (with appropriate safety clearances).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing throughout the workday.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights on lattice towers, scaffolding, and lifts while utilizing fall protection systems.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and around structural foundations when required.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate hand tools, power tools, jackhammers, saws, grinders, and measurement devices.
  • Ability to operate or oversee operation of light heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini-excavators, and aerial lifts.
  • Tolerance for prolonged exposure to outdoor environments, including extreme heat, cold, humidity, wind, and precipitation.
  • Ability to work in environments with elevated noise levels, vibration, dust, and airborne particulates.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read blueprints, inspect structural components, identify defects, and recognize safety hazards.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, harnesses, and steel-toed boots, for extended periods.
  • Physical stamina to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and travel to remote project locations as required.
  • Ability to travel 85%
Mental Requirements
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, structural repair details, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to assess structural conditions in the field and make sound decisions regarding repair methods and sequencing.
  • High level of situational awareness to identify safety risks in dynamic utility and construction environments.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks and crews to meet project deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to train, coach, and correct personnel as needed.
  • Ability to maintain composure and exercise sound judgment in high-risk or time-sensitive situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with crew members, engineers, project managers, inspectors, and utility representatives.
  • Mathematical aptitude sufficient to calculate measurements, material quantities, and elevations.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate daily reports, safety documentation, and production records.
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accountability for crew performance and safety compliance.
  • Problem-solving skills to address unforeseen field conditions, structural issues, and schedule impacts.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000
Reports to: Manager, Inspection Operations
