Maitre D' at Pullman Market – San Antonio, Texas

The Maître D’ is a lead hourly role overseeing the host stand and overall flow of the restaurant. This position should feel comfortable jumping in to help every FOH position, communicating with the kitchen and managers, and directing the host team and service staff throughout the evening to ensure a smooth service while maximizing covers.

Operational Responsibilities:

• Team Training: Oversees all aspects of host training, both onboarding and ongoing.
• Service Leadership: Demonstrates leadership in hospitality at all times, representing the restaurant with both guests and team members.
• Attitude: Brings positivity and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to the host stand.
• Communication: Coordinates effectively with the host team, Reservations & Events, and FOH leadership to ensure an organized book and smooth guest flow.
• Guest Priority: Leads the host stand during peak hours—managing waits, offering comps, cocktailing as needed, and recovering guest experiences before seating.
• Confirmations & Guest Notes: Ensures confirmations are consistently accurate; researches and updates guest notes daily, reinforcing the importance of the guestbook with Captains.
• Maximizing & Forecasting: Proactively looks ahead to optimize future books and OpenTable usage.
• Gift & VIP Programs: Manages physical gift card requests and collaborates with leadership on VIP gift planning and execution.
• CC Authorizations: Reviews daily reservations and distributes CC authorizations to Captains.
• Cleanliness & Checklists: Oversees completion of host opening/closing duties with managerial sign-off.
• Operational Support: Assists FOH managers with tasks like menu printing, Dropbox updates, and inbox monitoring when needed.
• Performance Reviews: Receives formal feedback twice annually from the GM and Events & Reservations Manager.

Personal Requirements:

• Be an ambassador for the company and maintain professionalism in and outside of work.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work efficiently and safely during shifts.
• TABC and Texas Food Handler Certificate required.

Working Conditions:

• A typical work week for this position is 40-45 hours. Hours vary based on needs of the market and the department.
• Position requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting objects up to 45 pounds, and repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Exposure to hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment is possible.
• Familiarity with office equipment such as phones, computers, fax machines, and copiers may be required.
