Job Description
Clinical Nurse
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Executive Director of Nursing (Ambulatory), the Clinical Nurse delivers professional, age-specific nursing care in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. This role is responsible for providing safe, high-quality patient care while supporting positive clinical outcomes in a diverse healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide skilled nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with professional standards

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and administer medications

Identify nursing problems and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care

Provide or delegate care in alignment with Valleywise Health policies and procedures

Serve as a patient advocate and educator, promoting patient understanding and engagement

Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation and required records
-
Provide indirect supervision and support to ancillary staff as assigned

Participate in team building, quality improvement, and performance enhancement initiatives
Professional Practice:

Demonstrate professional nursing judgment, accountability, and ethical practice

Promote comprehensive, cost-effective, and patient-centered care

Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing clinical environment
- Prefer a bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing.
- Must successfully complete the Valleywise Health New Graduate RN training program or have prior acute nursing experience demonstrating an understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Previous acute care hospital experience in the area he or she is applying for is preferred.
- Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license, a temporary AZ RN license, or a valid compact RN licensure for the current state of practice.
- Must be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing.
- Requires a BLS card obtained through an American Heart Association (AHA) training center upon hire.
- In addition, certification or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice:
- Surgical Trauma: Must have ACLS upon hire or transfer.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse people is a must.
- Bilingual is preferred.
- Must have excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills.
- Requires basic computer word processing skills (e.g., formatting, editing, printing, composing email, internet searches, etc.) to navigate through an electronic medical record using a computer successfully.
- Requires the ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English.
