Job Description

Job Summary:

Under general direction of the department manager, supervise technical staff and ancillary personnel, and coordinate all patient activities within responsible modality. Assign work schedules for staff technologists and ancillary personnel. Assure that all patient examinations are performed in accordance with established protocols and demonstrate knowledge of digital environment. Assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination. Reviews patient documents for completeness. Reviews patient images for technical quality prior to archiving to PACS and submission to the radiologists for interpretation. Ensure that all examinations have been charged correctly. Perform QA/QC on equipment, as needed and supervise all ACR and/or any governing agency standards required for assigned modality. Arrange for corrective and preventive maintenance on equipment as required. Prepare monthly reports, as needed. Ensure that quality assurance procedures for equipment are performed and documented. Start IV's and/or administer contrast media. Ensures that area specific code carts are checked and tested on a daily basis. Provide resource assistance for personnel within the area. Perform patient examinations when required. Provide student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within responsible modality. Function as a liaison between the physicians and technologists. Monitor patient volume statistics and/or productivity data. Shares call responsibility for emergency examinations, as needed. Possesses appropriate computer skills. Proves to be knowledgeable of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Knowledgeable and skilled to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice.

Performance Expectations:

ï‚· Leads staff in a positive work environment.

ï‚· Accurately and in sufficient quantity orders all Imaging Items required on a daily basis.

ï‚· Accurately enters in to Lawson data to ensure payment of all bills.

ï‚· Advances the Imaging department within Forrest Health through leadership, collaboration and accountability.

ï‚· Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage of the department.

ï‚· Actively participates in Hospital functions.

ï‚· Technical aptitude for dealing with and troubleshooting multiple pieces of Radiology equipment including, but not limited to PACS, IDI workstation, Aegis software, GE AW workstation, and powershare.

ï‚· Multitasks and prioritizes workload to prevent delays in patient care.

ï‚· Utilizes the ALARA principle on all exams performed.

ï‚· Actively shields and collimates when applicable.

ï‚· Has excellent oral and written communication skills.

ï‚· Troubleshoots multiple pieces of Radiology equipment including but not limited to PACS, EPIC, and X-Ray Equipment by successfully opening help desk tickets and or calling the equipment vendor and recording the log ticket number.

ï‚· Safely maintains the sterile field, and assist the Physician’s as needed with few if any errors.

ï‚· Properly identifies patients who present for testing per organization procedures to ensure the correct test is performed on the correct patient.

ï‚· Explains the proper exam preparation to all patients scheduled and answers any questions the patient may have.

ï‚· Properly places orders for testing in the hospital’s EMR system, according to Radiant Tip sheets.

ï‚· Monitor supply levels and order supplies accordingly,

ï‚· Multitask and prioritize workload to prevent delays in patient care.

ï‚· Works efficiently within Excel and Microsoft Word to accomplish daily task

ï‚· Tolerates physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients utilizing safety measures for onerself and/or patient to prevent accidents.

ï‚· Accesses and utilizes EMR for the provision of patient care competently.

ï‚· Prints patient CD’s, and properly identify the correct patient receives CD.

ï‚· Requests outside film from another facility.

ï‚· Completes all Radiology consent forms prior to beginning a procedure and place in medical records bin for archiving.

Qualifications:

Education/Skills

Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology. Maintain 12 category A CEU’s yearly. Work Experience: Three years’ work experience as a staff technologist (Required). Two years of Supervisor experience (preferred).

Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE

ï‚· Licensed with Mississippi Department of Health (MSRT)

ï‚· American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT R.T. (R) Radiography

Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below

ï‚· Basic Life Support Within 30 Days of Employment Required
