JOB SUMMARY
The Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab Technician is responsible for performing general office duties as well as providing support for the Clinical Exercise Physiologists. The Technician will assist in all tasks associated with the patient referral/scheduling process and infection prevention cleaning procedures. The Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab Technician works under the direction of the Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab Coordinator and with all Clinical Exercise Physiologists.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTION
- Assists department with all tasks associated with the referral and scheduling process.
- Assists with organization of electronic and paper records for department database, registry outcomes, and documentation.
- Maintains computerized schedule for all Clinical Exercise Physiologists for patient appointments, meetings, and time off requests.
- Answers the phone, takes messages, and communicates to the appropriate staff.
- Cleans equipment after patient use.
- Participates in staff meetings and appropriate in-services.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information and navigate electronic medical records in accordance with Tomah Health’s Confidentiality and Secure of Information policy.
- Contributes to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department and hospital by providing professional customer service and communication at all times.
- Demonstrates support for and the ability to work as part of a team on achieving departmental and organizational goals.
- Maintains proficiency in information system capabilities and tasks.
- Assists staff with outpatient care including but not limited to physical assist and support with transfers and wheelchair transportation.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certified. May take upon hire and must successfully pass within one year of employment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with EPIC or EMR systems preferred Previous hospital and/or CNA experience preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a good working knowledge of English usage, grammar, and punctuation required.
- Excellent human relation skills as demonstrated by the ability to interact positively with all employees.
- Must have the ability to work with frequent interruptions and be able to multitask and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Must have proficient computer skills with the ability to operate within a Windows environment.
- Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to take an initiative to solve problems and achieve goals.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- The Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Technician is frequently required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms and is required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- The Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Technician must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds (i.e. wheelchair).
