CDL Driving Assistant (PT) at Barton Community College – Great Bend, Kansas

Position Description: Responsible for assisting the CDL Instructor position with driver training functions for the CDL training program. Functional responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing safety inspections relating to potential truck/trailer issues and teaching functional driving skills such as performing turns, curves and backing. Position Responsibilities: 50.00% - Provide driving instruction to students while they are driving. 25.00% - Maintain a safe driving/learning experience for students. 20.00% - Provide assistance with maintenance of the equipment. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations:

1. Expected to maintain a valid CDL license with airbrake endorsement.

2. Expected to maintain a valid DOT physical card. 3. Ability to understand, demonstrate and explain safe vehicle operations to others. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience: - Minimum of 2 years driving a semi-truck. Education: - High school diploma or equivalent. Physical Requirements: The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require recurring lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity. Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings. Wages/Other:

The hourly rate for the CDL Driving Assistant (PT) is $20.00.

License and School Bus Training Program as a Part-Time Driving Assistant. You will put your driving experience to work, by supporting students as they learn to drive under real-world conditions.
