Speech Language Pathologist Qualifications:
Degree/Education: A Masters or Doctoral degree in communication disorders or speech pathology from a speech pathology program acceptable to the USAF Surgeon General and accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Certifications: Maintain current certification of Clinical Competency in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA. The contractor shall hold current Healthcare Provider (HCP) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification using American Red Cross guidelines or American Heart Association guidelines. Computer-based training does not constitute fulfilling the training requirements. Maintain current certification of Certified Brain Injury Therapy from Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialist (ACBIS).
Experience: Shall have 24 months of experience within the last 36 months.
Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a speech therapist.
Speech Therapist Job Duties:
- Incorporate new clinical procedures sufficient to perform clinical services independently. Conduct patient assessments; provide treatment interventions and consultation to other healthcare professionals. Use instrumentation (e.g., videofluoroscopy, nasendoscopy, stroboscopy, computer technology) to observe, collect data, and measure parameters of communication and swallowing, or other upper aero-digestive functions in accordance with the principles of evidence-based practice.
