SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) seeks to provide family physicians and other health care professionals with continuing medical education (CME) based on the principles of adult learning. The expected outcome of the AAFP Continuing Medical Education program is to increase the ratio of learners who plan and/or demonstrate implementation of meaningful change in their practices.
The Learning Development Strategist plays a key role in the Education Division at AAFP and provides guidance and support to the Education division and collaborates across the AAFP to translate learning design strategy into engaging, technology-enabled learning activities, included e-learning, webinars, and live streamed events. This person will leverage existing technologies and platforms to enhance learner engagement and improve the effectiveness of virtual and digital learning experiences.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- advising and supporting faculty and staff with technology-based learning projects consistent with best practices and instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
- identifying and communicating opportunities for process and quality improvements, evaluating requests for technology-based learning projects and recommending technologies that match learning objectives.
- serving as course development consultant on project teams and reviewing completed courses after development.
- designing and developing CME courses within the AAFP learning management system, including building, testing, and troubleshooting course functionality, engaging with IT to define the scope and business rules of projects.
- designing, developing, coordinating, and conducting instructional technology sessions and workshops that promote technology integration to enhance instruction.
- informing staff and faculty members on best practices for online course design based on the best research,
- collaborating with Learning Design Strategists to translate learning strategy and activity design into engaging, technology-enabled learning experiences, including e-learning, webinars, and live-streamed events. Serve as an LMS administrator, managing course setup, user access, enrollment, system configuration, troubleshooting, and reporting.
Other duties and work as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Demonstrated experience developing technology-enabled learning for adult audiences, including e-learning and virtual learning experiences. Experience working with learning management systems and educational technologies required. Experience in continuing medical education preferred. The ideal candidate is self-directed, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
