About the Role:
The 1st Shift, Monday-Thursday 6:30am- 4:30pm, Manual Welder plays a critical role in the manufacturing and fabrication process by performing high-quality manual welding tasks during the first shift. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure that welded components meet strict industry standards and specifications. The welder will work closely with production teams to interpret blueprints, set up welding equipment, and execute welds on various metals and alloys. The ultimate goal is to produce durable, defect-free welds that contribute to the overall integrity and safety of the finished product. This role is essential in maintaining production schedules and supporting the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a manual welder with proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of welding safety protocols and procedures.
- Physical ability to perform welding tasks, including standing for extended periods and handling heavy materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a recognized welding program or institution (e.g., AWS Certified Welder).
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Familiarity with welding inspection tools and non-destructive testing methods.
- Basic knowledge of metallurgy and welding metallurgy principles.
- Ability to use computerized welding equipment and software.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications to determine appropriate welding procedures.
- Set up and operate manual welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welders to join metal parts.
- Inspect welds for quality and accuracy, making adjustments as necessary to meet standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure a clean and safe work environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
Skills:
The required skills such as proficiency in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding are applied daily to create strong, precise welds that meet product specifications. Reading and interpreting blueprints allows the welder to understand the exact requirements and dimensions for each weld, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Safety skills are critical to prevent accidents and maintain a secure work environment, especially when working with high temperatures and electrical equipment. Preferred skills like welding certification and knowledge of inspection techniques enhance the welder’s ability to produce superior quality work and identify potential defects early. Additionally, familiarity with computerized welding tools can improve efficiency and precision in complex welding tasks.
