EPRI is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Technical Executive of Strategic Insights and Outreach. This role is responsible for shaping and supporting EPRI’s engagement strategy and will lead EPRI’s thought leadership efforts, ensuring that EPRI’s research and insights are not only visible but actively shaping conversations on the future of energy. The Technical Executive will cultivate partnerships with DC-based think tanks, trade associations, academic institutions, and advocacy groups to amplify EPRI’s voice in critical policy and innovation dialogues.

This position requires:

•A deep understanding of the energy policy and regulatory landscape.

•Strong relationships across government, multilateral organizations, and DC-based policy networks.

•The ability to translate complex technical insights into accessible, actionable narratives that influence decision-making and public discourse.

The Technical Executive will work closely with EPRI’s executive leadership, research sectors, and global regional managers to ensure EPRI’s expertise is trusted and aligned with the evolving needs of the energy sector. This role is central to positioning EPRI as a recognized thought leader, ensuring its research informs and inspires decision-makers, stakeholders, and influencers at all levels of government and across international platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead an enhanced Thought Leadership program that produces compelling written content, repurposes it across multiple mediums to reach target audiences, and supports EPRI subject matter experts in showcasing our thought leadership through conference and event engagement;

  • Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities shaping the energy sector, including technology, market dynamics, policy, and stakeholder expectations;

  • Coordinate cross-sectoral engagement strategies to ensure EPRI is positioned as a trusted, nonpartisan resource on energy and technology issues;

  • Pursue opportunities to expand the EPRI brand including speaking engagements, articles, running workshops;

  • Support on the development and execution of strategic engagement plans for current (e.g., DCFlex, Open Power AI) and future board-level strategic initiatives;

  • Integrate AI-driven tools and insights into global and government affairs workflows — from stakeholder mapping and policy trend analysis to engagement planning and performance tracking — to enhance strategic foresight, responsiveness, and operational efficiency;

  • Ensure a global perspective is embedded across all engagement activities — reflecting the diversity of EPRI’s stakeholders, collaborators, and impact across regions, cultures, and energy ecosystems;

  • Track and analyze performance metrics to refine strategy and demonstrate public impact; and

  • Engage with the Sector Research Portfolio Managers and leadership to ensure close collaboration and support of EPRI public benefit mission.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, international relations, energy/environmental studies, or a related field is required.

  • A master’s degree (e.g., MPP, MBA or equivalent) or JD is strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with progressive responsible in government affairs, public policy, or external relations.

  • Minimum of 5 years of senior level management experience in a complex environment with international customers.

  • Demonstrated experience engaging with U.S. federal and state agencies, regulatory bodies, and international institutions.

The salary range for this position is $180,000 USD to $195,000 USD annually.This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
