Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain all elements of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure effective quality processes are established, implemented, and sustained to deliver high-quality products and services.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with all departments across the organization.
- Recommend enhancements to existing programs and develop new systems to meet customer requirements, improve product and service quality, increase efficiency, and reduce waste.
- Interpret customer, regulatory, and stakeholder compliance requirements and integrate them into business operations while promoting organization-wide awareness.
- Maintain robust document control and recordkeeping systems for policies, procedures, work instructions, and forms.
- Manage daily quality operations, including monitoring nonconformances and performing root-cause and corrective action analysis.
- Maintain AS9100 and ISO certifications through regular QMS reviews and internal process audits.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Respond to customer nonconformances in compliance with aerospace requirements, including RCCA development and implementation.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
- Initiate and oversee corrective actions, process improvements, and preventive solutions.
- Plan for and lead internal and external audits across all company locations.
- Develop, track, and report quality metrics, performance measurements, and trends.
- Oversee Export/ITAR compliance, including required training and government regulations.
- Manage the review, approval, and compliance process for all Export/ITAR-controlled orders.
- Maintain unrestricted access to senior leadership and exercise organizational authority to address and resolve QMS-related issues.
- Conduct recurring quality meetings, new-hire quality training, and annual management review meetings.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop direct reports to ensure effective team performance.
- Perform the responsibilities of direct reports when required to support operational needs.
Required Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management within the metals service center industry or aerospace/defense manufacturing industries.
- Understanding of metallics and metal products.
- Proven expertise with AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) standards, including implementation, auditing, and continuous improvement.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, relevant quality standards and process controls.
- Experience managing export compliance and knowledge of laws.
- Demonstrated ability to lead internal/external audits and ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and improving quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation control system
- Proficiency in root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and risk management methodologies
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to train, mentor, and influence cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and operational excellence
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Standard onsite work schedule is 8:00AM 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, with expected overtime as an exempt position.
- Reporting location is Connecticut. Must be local or willing to relocate.
- Overnight travel required.
