About This Position

About Torus

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 540,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. Our mission is to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports critical systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About the Role

As the Vice President of Field Construction at Torus, you'll lead the construction of cutting-edge C&I and utility-scale energy projects that power America's clean energy future. Managing multiple sites simultaneously, you'll oversee construction supervisors and coordinate subcontractors and utilities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role offers real autonomy—you'll make critical decisions in the field, resolve complex technical challenges, and serve as the key liaison between our customers, regulatory bodies, and installation teams. With diverse project types spanning energy storage, microgrids, and commercial construction, you'll build expertise across emerging technologies while advancing your career in one of the fastest-growing sectors in construction.

Who You Are

  • A clear communicator who values transparent dialogue, gives feedback promptly, and seeks context before making assumptions
  • Safety-conscious, quality-focused, and efficient as you balance precision with speed, committed to doing it right the first time
  • A problem-solver who approaches challenges with cautious optimism, leveraging your strengths to continuously improve
  • Self-motivated and adaptable as you thrive independently, take initiative, and adjust quickly to changing priorities
  • Customer-minded as you understand your work powers sustainable energy systems for real communities, and quality is non-negotiable

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day construction operations across multiple C&I and utility-scale energy storage, and microgrid sites, ensuring safe execution on schedule and within budget
  • Lead field crews, subcontractors, and vendors by understanding their perspective and challenges before implementing solutions
  • Serve as primary liaison with AHJs, utilities, and permitting bodies, providing direct answers and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Review and approve site inspections and quality control activities, catching issues early through meticulous attention to detail
  • Review and approve construction drawings, submittals, and RFIs, considering how electrical systems, storage, and controls integrate across the entire project
  • Track and report project progress to stakeholders and customers without burying the lead
  • Resolve constructability issues with engineering and design teams and installation crews, maintaining optimism while acknowledging real constraints
  • Champion safety culture, ensuring all personnel follow OSHA requirements and company protocols—because our customers depend on reliable, safe energy infrastructure
Required Experience
  • 10+ years of construction management experience on multi-site, multi-MW C&I or utility-scale energy projects, or equivalent experience in commercial construction, MEP coordination, or electrical contracting with willingness to learn energy systems
  • Deep understanding of electrical systems, energy storage, switchgear, interconnection, and control systems
  • Strong command of construction budgeting, scheduling, and project management tools (ie Construction Cloud, Procore, ProjectSight)
