Pay Range: $97,281.60-$145,891.20 per year. Fulltime Exempt position.

Summary:

The Director of Surgical Services provides strategic and operational leadership across the full continuum of perioperative care, including:

  • Outpatient Surgery Unit
  • Preoperative Services
  • Operating Room
  • Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Sterile Processing Department
  • Anesthesia Services
  • Ambulatory Infusion Suite

This role ensures the delivery of safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, while driving performance improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Essential Job Functions:

Lead, supervise, and evaluate surgical services staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

  • Oversee daily operations, staffing, scheduling, payroll, and workflow efficiency
  • Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, accreditation standards, and infection prevention protocols
  • Partner with Quality teams to develop and sustain performance improvement initiatives
  • Manage departmental budgets and resources with a focus on fiscal responsibility
  • Champion patient safety and high-quality perioperative care delivery
  • Guide staff development through coaching, education, and performance management
  • Lead change management efforts and process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze quality and performance data to drive outcomes
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, equipment, and supplies are consistently available
  • Promote culturally competent care and patient advocacy across all services
  • Maintain compliance with all licensure, certification, and training requirements
Requirements:

Minimum Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in nursing with two years four years of varied and progressive perioperative services experience, and/or perioperative nursing management experience with increasing level of administrative responsibility and authority. At least one year of previous work experience in a supervisory role is required.

Pre-Employment Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

• Advanced knowledge in financial management; knowledge of practices and procedures for planning and formulating budgets and monitoring related expenses.

• Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, other agencies, employees and administration.

• Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians or others in a professional manner.

Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit to a TB test.

Licenses or Certificates: Current RN licensure in Colorado, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Unusual Demands: Work is subject to recurring and inflexible deadlines and frequent interruptions.
