Compensation
Living Allowance of $3,000.06 paid out biweekly ($425.58), Education Award of $1,565.08; earned at the end of term.
Note: This is a LIMITED TERM AmeriCorps Position running from May 26, 2026 - August 28, 2026

About the Job
We need you to fill the role of Americorps Program and Service Coordinator. Shalom Austin is the hub of Jewish life in Central Texas, providing programs, services, and resources that connect, empower, and support the community. Jewish Family Service (JFS) is the social service branch of Shalom Austin, offering dignified and essential care navigation and mental health services for people of all ages. The Program and Service Coordinator (AmeriCorps Member) supports the daily operations of Jewish Family Service by assisting with client intake, service coordination, and administrative tasks. The Member will greet clients, manage scheduling and communications, assist with service referrals, and help support the JFS Food Pantry program operations. This position ensures clients are connected to appropriate resources while helping maintain efficient office systems that support staff and community support services. This is a part-time position and this location requires a total service commitment of 300 hours (approximately 22 hours per week). Please note this position will begin on May 26th and run through August 28th.
You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:
Client Intake & Referral
- Provide care navigation support, connecting clients to appropriate services and resources.
- Maintain and manage the agency’s therapy and community referral network in the Greater Austin area.
- Research and confirm availability of external services when JFS cannot directly meet client needs.
- Assist the Intake Specialist with waitlist management calls and emails.
Collaboration
- Partner with case management staff and other JFS team members to support service delivery to clients
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and biweekly clinical supervision
- Provide operational coverage at the secondary JFS office location when front desk staff needs assistance
- Research and compile the latest in continuing education offerings for case management providers
Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate documentation and program data.
- Track food pantry inventory and assist with service coordination.
- Monitor and manage office and program supplies needs
Office and Administrative Support
- Answer phones and welcome clients at the office.
- Assist staff with scheduling rides, appointments, and services for clients.
- Manage Zoom meetings or JFS programs when requested, including note-taking and follow-up communication.

Competency: Comfort and experience with interviewing, case management, coaching clients in-person and online. Working knowledge of Greater Austin social service resources and referrals. Adheres to legal and ethical standards of care, incl scope of practice, client privacy and record-keeping, HIPAA, and cultural competency.
Work environment: Perform in-office in accordance with agency policies.
Physical demands: Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, carrying up to 20-pound objects and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment.
Position type and expected hours of work: 22 hours weekly, Regular business hours, attend occasional organization events and programs occurring on evenings and weekends, as requested.
Requirements:- High School diploma or equivalency is required.
- Students working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field or individuals retired from a related field are preferred .
- Experience providing case management services, such as interviewing and counseling; speaking with individuals in crisis, assisting applicants in completing forms, determining and advising applicants of eligibility for assistance, and providing or facilitating access to human services assistance.
- Excellent time management and written and verbal communication skills.
