About This Position
About the Role:
This role sits at the center of production, logistics, and quality. You will coordinate the flow of materials, track jobs through production, and make sure finished products meet company standards before they leave the facility. What this really means is you keep things moving, catch issues early, and help the team deliver a clean, accurate product on time. The position supports compliance, reduces defects, and drives continuous improvement to ensure safety, durability, and customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; associate degree or equivalent experience preferred
- 2 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, logistics, or quality control
- Experience in metal fabrication or construction-related industry preferred
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- CDL valid license
- DOT Compliance
- Ability to read and understand shop drawings and specifications
- Comfortable using ERP systems, Excel, and basic reporting tools
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience with quality control methodologies and documentation practices
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector or willingness to obtain
- ASQ, Six Sigma, or related quality certification
- Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems
- Proficiency with quality management software and statistical analysis tools such as Minitab
- Familiarity with environmental, health, and safety regulations related to steel production
Responsibilities:
Quality Oversight and Inspection
• Monitor and inspect raw materials, in-process fabrication, welding, painting, and finished steel components
• Perform visual inspection of welds for size, profile, penetration, defects, and workmanship
• Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications and welder qualifications
• Inspect structural members for dimensional accuracy, hole placement, camber, straightness, and surface finish
• Ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, ASTM, ISO, API, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures
Logistics & Shipping
• Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments
• Prepare and verify shipping documents and packing lists
• Ensure materials and finished goods are staged and shipped correctly
• Work with vendors and carriers to meet delivery timelines
Quality Control and Documentation
• Conduct quality audits and testing of materials, components, and finished products
• Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records and reports
• Issue nonconformance reports and support root cause analysis
• Analyze quality data and generate reports to support leadership decision making
• Support internal and external audits
Corrective Action and Continuous Improvement
• Identify quality concerns and partner with production and engineering to implement corrective and preventive actions
• Train production staff on quality standards and best practices
• Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles where applicable
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the workday
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and fabrication activity
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
Work Environment
• Steel manufacturing and fabrication facility
• Overtime may be required based on production schedules
