GDIT is seeking an End-to-End Solution Architect with a strong engineering background, customer-facing communication skills, and a history of experience supporting large-scale systems design and implementations. This role serves as the architectural leader for a large-scale system modernization effort for one of our Federal Civilian customers and will involve guiding the effort to develop, maintain, and implement a future-state solution architecture and roadmap to meet customer mission and operational objectives and needs.

The likely salary range for this position is $187,000 - $253,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with customers, stakeholders, program functions, and technical teams on architecture design and implementation
- Understand needs and capability gaps and develop associated architectural vision and solution strategies.
- Develop and maintain the target architecture and technology roadmap.
- Align multiple efforts and functions to effectively integrate systems, processes, and plans to meet evolving needs.
- Design and own end-to-end solution architecture that meets customer mission and operational objectives, needs, and requirements.
- Identify secure, robust, flexible, and efficient solutions.
- Define a concept of operations and the procedures and tools required to enable delivery of associated products and services.
- Integrate system architecture considerations and support activities across system lifecycle.
- Define system boundaries, interfaces, dependencies, and data flows.
- Guide and validate architecture decisions.
- Lead identification and evaluation of solution options through structured analysis of alternatives methods.
- Provide input to program risk management activities.
- Incorporate human factors, human-system-integration, and organizational change considerations into target architecture implementation planning.
- Govern architecture compliance across the project and change management processes
- Define architecture frameworks, guidance, and best practices to be used.
- Establish and maintain an architecture governance framework, including an architecture review process.
- Provide architectural review of engineering deliverables and packages.
- Create and maintain authoritative architecture deliverables that clearly communicate architectures and implementations plans for various audiences and levels of abstraction.
- Present solutions and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders to foster shared understanding and obtain buy-in.
- Develop technical documentation and briefing materials to support engineering, operations, and other needs
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, current, and accessible to engineering and operations teams
Required Qualifications:
- Active Secret clearance or higher
- 12+ years of professional experience with five years or more of Architect experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field. Four years of professional experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
- Strong customer and stakeholder engagement skills including demonstrated success in facilitating solution architecture design and planning.
- Experience partnering directly with PMO/Program Leadership to integrate architecture into budget planning, contract strategy, and vendor management approaches.
- Experience conducting prototype or pilot efforts to validate solution approaches prior to enterprise rollout.
- Demonstrated ability to architect solutions that account for sustainment, O&M cost optimization, and lifecycle cost estimation.
- Demonstrated success resolving architectural disputes across diverse stakeholder groups using structured decision frameworks (e.g., trade studies).
- Strong written and oral communication and leadership skills with demonstrated success in leading technical leadership and teams.
- Experience collaborating with non-technical customers, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams including UX Design, Product Management, and other Engineering and Operations functions to design and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Experience mentoring engineering teams on architectural patterns, emerging technologies, and solution engineering best practices.
- Understanding and hands-on experience supporting federal government IT requirements including cybersecurity risk management processes and controls.
- Experience in leading development of common technical architecture documentation artifacts.

- Experience integrating architectural practices with agile development methodologies
- Experience with designing solutions for classified environments, including secure data integration and bidirectional transfers across different security domains
- Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and practices for secure development
- Experience with formal Enterprise and System Architecture methodologies and modeling frameworks such as UAF, TOGAF, Arcadia, ArchiMate, and SysMLv2
- Experience leading projects applying formal System Engineering practices
- Experience designing distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and cloud-native applications
- Experience supporting system verification activities
- Experience designing and operationalizing Generative AI-enabled capabilities within enterprise environments, including integrating LLM‑based services into production workflows, establishing governance and safety controls, and aligning AI-driven solution patterns with enterprise architecture standards
