We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking a Staff Technician 1 to provide stormwater system audit support on an active railyard. This is a part-time, temporary position located in Roanoke, VA.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:
- Work independently providing stormwater system audit support on active railyard.
- Meet with the onsite construction manager to discuss activities completed, as needed.
- Walk the perimeter of the limit of disturbance, inspect the installed silt sock to make sure it’s still in good shape, and that it’s staked down.
- Inspect the concrete wash area – make sure silt sock is in place and in good shape.
- Inspect construction entrances – make sure gravel and rumble strips are in place and in good condition.
- Make a note of the asphalt road as you enter the site to ensure construction vehicles aren’t tracking silt onto the main road. Document observances such as presence of silt on the road, tire tracks, etc.
- Fill out Site Inspection Form and file it at the site (on paper or electronically)
- Project duration: immediate opening for approximately one year from start, with potential for project extension.
- Other expectations:
- Prompt and consistent availability
- Professionally represent Haley & Aldrich well
- Good communication with Haley & Aldrich Managers
- Completion of our Non-Disclosure agreement for confidentiality
- Estimated time commitment:
- Onsite inspections every 4 business days. Inspections,post-inspection communication, and timesheet/expense reporting should take approximately 2-4 hours of total time per week.
- Haley & Aldrich will provide:
- Personal-protectiveequipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety vest, work gloves, and reimbursementfor steel-toed boots
- Site specific general training (e-rail) and project specific health and safety training.
- You are expected to:
- Have reliable transportation to/from job site.
- Have mobile device for onsite communication and photograph documentation
- Have ability to write emails
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) knowledge.
- Have reliable transportation to/from job site.
- Must comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior articulated in our Company Charter.
- Must comply with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
- This position may entail lifting up to 30lbs unassisted, walking on uneven ground, bending, working on an active railyard, working in the elements (following our Health & Safety guidelines), such as snow, rain, heat, etc., and use of PPE.
