Senior Data Engineer AWS

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer AWS in Spain.

This role offers the opportunity to design and build scalable, cloud-native data platforms that power advanced analytics and business-critical decision-making. You will work in a highly technical environment focused on AWS-based architectures, contributing to the design and evolution of modern data ecosystems such as data lakes, lakehouses, and data mesh models. The position involves end-to-end ownership of data solutions, from architecture and development to deployment and optimization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Data Engineering, Analytics, and DevOps to deliver robust, high-performance data pipelines. A strong emphasis is placed on scalability, data governance, and engineering excellence. This is a hands-on role in a fast-evolving environment where technical decisions directly shape enterprise data strategy and impact.

Accountabilities

You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data solutions in AWS, ensuring high-quality, secure, and efficient data pipelines and architectures that support analytics and business needs.

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy data pipelines and platforms using AWS services such as S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, EC2, and Lambda.
  • Build and evolve modern data architectures, including data lakes, lakehouse, and data mesh approaches.
  • Develop end-to-end data solutions, including reusable frameworks beyond individual pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Analytics, and DevOps teams to deliver high-value, scalable data products.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and information management policies.
  • Lead incident resolution for data-related issues and own projects from design through delivery and continuous improvement.
Requirements

This role requires strong experience in cloud data engineering, with deep technical expertise in AWS ecosystems and modern data processing frameworks.

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud environments, ideally in data engineering roles.
  • Strong expertise in Spark (Scala), Python, and SQL for large-scale data processing.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, especially S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, EC2, and Lambda.
  • Deep understanding of ETL design, data modeling, and scalable data architecture principles.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems end-to-end and make sound technical decisions in context.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to edge cases, scalability, and performance considerations.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced level of English.
  • Nice to have: experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., GitHub Actions), Apache Iceberg, data quality frameworks (Great Expectations, Deequ), and scripting (Bash, HCL).
Benefits
  • Permanent contract with competitive salary package.
  • Flexible working arrangements with full remote options.
  • Personalized career development plan and continuous training opportunities.
  • Stable, long-term technical projects with high complexity and impact.
  • Flexible working hours supporting work-life balance.
  • Social benefits tailored to employee needs.
  • Opportunity to work on modern, cloud-native data platforms at scale.
