This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of enterprise database environments across both cloud and on-premises infrastructures. You will play a key part in designing, maintaining, and optimizing relational database systems that support critical business applications and analytics workloads. The position combines hands-on database administration with strategic input on architecture, standards, and long-term data platform evolution. You will work across production and non-production environments, ensuring high availability, strong security controls, and efficient data operations. This is a highly technical role where your expertise directly impacts system stability, data integrity, and organizational decision-making. The environment is collaborative and fast-paced, with opportunities to work on modern cloud data platforms and large-scale data systems.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will oversee the daily operation, optimization, and governance of enterprise database systems while ensuring performance, security, and reliability. Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing daily operations of production, non-production, and redundant database environments across cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Defining and maintaining database management policies, procedures, and standards while monitoring system usage and transaction activity.
  • Reviewing database designs and system integrations, providing recommendations for optimization and improvement.
  • Developing, implementing, and testing backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure system resilience and data protection.
  • Maintaining strict security and integrity controls across all database environments.
  • Contributing to long-term database strategy, including relational database architecture and platform evolution.
  • Advising technical and business stakeholders on database capabilities, limitations, and recommended system enhancements.
  • Supporting performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization of database systems.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled database professional with strong experience in PostgreSQL and cloud-based data platforms. You should be analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating across technical teams. Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in database administration or a related technical field.
  • Hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL administration, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.
  • Strong experience in PostgreSQL performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing strategies, and parameter configuration.
  • Proficiency in SQL across OLTP and analytical workloads.
  • Experience with AWS database services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora (PostgreSQL), AWS Glue, and AWS DMS.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Redshift architecture, security models, and access control.
  • Experience with AWS Lake Formation and data lake environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for performance, availability, and resource utilization issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document and explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% as required.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency and ability to follow complex technical instructions.
