About the role

The Freedom House Thrift Sales Associate, at 2811 Battleground Ave in Greensboro, is a critical member of the team, responsible for providing excellent customer service, maintaining a well-organized and inviting sales floor, and assisting with donation intake. This role requires the ability to engage effectively with customers and donors, including the tactful handling of situations where items cannot be accepted. Physical stamina and a positive, mission-focused attitude are essential for success in this role.

What you'll do

• Customer Service & Sales Floor Management:
  Welcome and assist customers with a positive and professional attitude. Maintain an appealing and organized sales floor to enhance the shopping experience.
• Donation Intake & Donor Relations:
  Assist with receiving donations, sorting items, and stocking the store. Communicate donation guidelines clearly to donors, tactfully declining items that do not meet the store's criteria while preserving donor goodwill.
• Stocking & Merchandising:
  Restock shelves and displays, ensuring merchandise is organized, attractive, and easy to shop.
• Physical Handling of Items:
  Safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds, including furniture, clothing, and household goods, as needed for stocking and processing.
• Team Collaboration & Mission Support:
  Work closely with staff and volunteers, embodying the Christian values of Freedom House Thrift.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• A passion for the mission of Freedom House Thrift and a commitment to serving others in a Christian environment.
• Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.

Hours

• Full-time and part-time positions available.
• Schedule includes weekday and occasional Saturday shifts, with flexibility required to meet store needs.
