Manufacturing Engineer

Position Overview
Simbe's Manufacturing Engineer will work with a multidisciplinary team and be responsible for leading and supporting the manufacturing, process development, and quality of our Tally autonomous mobile robots at our Guadalajara facility. This will include working closely with contract manufacturers and suppliers, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring that design intent is faithfully translated into production output. The Manufacturing Engineer will also play a key role in scaling production for Simbe's next-generation robotics platform and related products. This position will be onsite at our CM partner in Guadajalara
Responsibilities
  • Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, and BOMs to ensure consistent, high-quality production output

  • Act as the primary liaison between Simbe's engineering teams and local manufacturing teams, communicating design changes and ensuring alignment

  • Identify and resolve manufacturing and assembly issues (component, sub-assembly, and test), driving root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Lead and support DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) reviews to improve yield, reduce cost, and simplify assembly

  • Establish and monitor production quality metrics; lead failure analysis investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions

  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) activities, coordinating build readiness, pilot runs, and production ramp for new products

  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) and ensure timely implementation on the manufacturing floor

  • Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, including qualification and ongoing performance evaluation

Qualifications
  • BS/MS in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field

  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in robotics, electronics, or electromechanical products

  • Experience with manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, CNC machining, cast urethane, and additive manufacturing

  • Experience qualifying new vendors or manufacturers, including defining qualification criteria, communicating technical feedback and requirements, managing sampling and FAI processes

  • Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) for reviewing designs and supporting DFM analysis

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, 2D drawings, and assembly drawings

  • Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis, failure analysis, and process capability studies

  • Experience with Quality process with assembly, test, and debug

  • Certification Process - UL, FCC, CE, FCC

  • Proven ability to drive issues to resolution in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment

  • Strong communication skills in both Spanish and English (written and verbal)

  • Located in Guadalajara Area

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with contract manufacturers (CMs) in the Guadalajara / Jalisco manufacturing corridor

  • Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Arena, Windchill, or similar)

  • Experience with vendor qualification, management, and negotiation in Mexico

  • Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing and electronics assembly processes

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or kaizen methodologies

  • Knowledge of Linux/ROS or familiarity with autonomous robotics systems
