Overview of Position:

The Barback at Appellation Healdsburg plays a critical support role in the success of the hotel’s bar and beverage service operations. This position is responsible for ensuring the bar is fully stocked, clean, and organized, enabling the bartenders to deliver exceptional beverage service and memorable guest experiences.

As a Barback, you will anticipate the needs of the bar team, maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization, and assist with basic service and preparation tasks. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and grow within the hospitality industry.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the bar is fully stocked at all times, including liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar tools.
• Refill ice bins, beer coolers, and other essential bar supplies throughout service periods.
• Wash and polish glassware to ensure it meets the highest presentation standards.
• Assist bartenders with basic drink preparation, such as juicing citrus or prepping garnishes, as directed.
• Remove used glassware, bar tools, and trash from the bar area and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Assist with receiving, rotating, and properly storing bar inventory and supplies.
• Monitor and replenish bar condiments, napkins, and other service items to maintain a consistent flow of service.
• Uphold safety and sanitation standards, ensuring all bar areas comply with health and safety regulations.
• Provide general support to bartenders and servers, jumping in to assist with guest requests as needed.
• Perform opening and closing duties for the bar, following checklists and completing tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Work collaboratively with the beverage and restaurant teams to ensure a seamless guest experience.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Beverage Manager or Assistant General Manager.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a barback or in a similar support role in a bar, restaurant, or luxury hotel setting preferred.
• High attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a professional, guest-focused attitude.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Familiarity with basic bar tools and glassware handling.
• A positive, team-player mindset and a desire to learn and grow within the hospitality industry.
