Join Our Team: Video Production Technician (Temporary)

The City of Biddeford is looking for a reliable, tech-savvy individual to help us keep our community informed. As a Video Production Technician, you will play a vital role in local democracy by ensuring our public meetings are broadcast with professional quality and clarity. This is a temporary, per-diem position offering a stipend of $100 per meeting.

Key Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will be the "eyes and ears" of the meeting for the public. Your duties include:
  • Power on camera and microphone system and ensure all components are operating correctly.
  • Operate multi-camera system, switchers, and capture devices; monitor audio levels and video framing.
  • Manage live streaming platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Biddeford Public Access Channel, and City of Biddeford website).
  • Ensure clear audio capture from podiums, panel mics, and audience participation.
  • Capture timestamps of agenda items during the meeting.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues in real time.
  • Communicate professionally with City staff, board members, and the public; maintain neutrality and professionalism.
Requirements:

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate who is calm under pressure and possesses the following:

  • Strong technical skills: High proficiency with computers and AV hardware.
  • Problem-solving ability: Quick at troubleshooting during live events.
  • Reliability: High level of punctuality and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility: Availability for evening hours and a comfort with unpredictable meeting end times.
  • Experience (Preferred): Prior experience in live event broadcasting or government meeting coverage.

Schedule & Compensation

Status: Temporary / Per Diem (No City benefits).

Hours: Minimum of 5–6 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.

Shift Times: Evenings starting after 3:30 PM. Meetings typically run until approximately 9:00 PM (end times vary).

Pay: $100 per meeting stipend.
