Purpose of the Position

The Business Development Manager is responsible for achieving the strategic goals and actively drives the growth in Medical Device and Plastics of the company’s product portfolio. This person will visit customer sites, identify projects and instrumentation requirements, provide advice on appropriate applications and coordinate with the local outside sales team to sell those company products. With a specific focus on the Life Sciences industry within the entire US, the Business Development Manager will target Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Manufacturers and Plastics accounts.


Main Tasks


Collaborate with outside consultants and engage in meetings with potential clients to develop, grow, maintain, and leverage company and client networks, specifically focusing on the Life Sciences industry in the United States.Identify potential clients and key decision-makers within organizations, aligning strategies with the Sales Manager to penetrate General Plastic accounts, Medical OEMs, contract developers, and manufacturers in the US.Develop and help implement sales strategies in conjunction with the Sales Manager for appropriate products in the Medical Device and related markets in North America, following BU directives.Continuously identify new application opportunities and unique market requirements within the Life Sciences industry, consulting with the Sales Manager and Application Experts to develop specialized solutions.Identifies present and future instrumentation requirements, consult with Sales Manager on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and sales channels.Conduct thorough competitive analysis to inform sales and marketing strategies, crafting the company’s unique selling position for the Medical Device and related industry within the targeted territory. Play a pivotal role in providing initial on-site sales support, facilitating client relationship building, and implementing strategies for key accounts, particularly within the Life Sciences sector.Assists marketing with targeted communications and planning for trade shows, advertising, and press releases.Actively participate in industry-specific trade shows, monitoring and managing follow-ups on inquiries generated from trade shows and advertising efforts. Lead and coordinate local medical initiatives encompassing sales, application & service, marketing, and BU activities, with a strategic focus on driving growth and market penetration in the Life Sciences sector.Provide active support and contribute to defining and executing BU-specific strategies, aligning closely with the overarching goal of achieving targeted revenue growth in the Life Sciences industry.


Requirements Profile


Bachelor’s degree in an engineering/business discipline from an accredited four (4) year college, preferred master’s degree. experience in technical sales and marketing in the medical device and related industriesProven ability to succeed in business development, technical sales, sales executive or relevant role in the Medical Device or related industry.An understanding of the appropriate regulations and requirements associated with Medical Device Manufacturing where company products are used.Market knowledge and analysis capabilityKnowledge of Process Automation and Process Monitoring applications is a plus.Knowledge of sensors, electronics, software, and communication protocols is a plus.Excellent written, verbal communication and negotiation skills.Knowledge of Microsoft office products.Travel requirements: available to travel 50% of time.Airline travel is required as well as occasional trips abroad for meetings and training.A current and valid driver’s license and passport is required.
