About the Role

The Head of Tax will lead the global tax strategy for a growing international financial services
company. This role is primarily strategic and forward-looking, responsible for shaping the
organization’s tax position, optimizing global products and structures, and ensuring compliance
across jurisdictions.

The successful candidate will initially operate as a standalone leader, with a mandate to design
and build a scalable tax function over time.

What You’ll Do

Tax Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute a global tax strategy aligned with the company’s objectives and geographic expansion.
  • Advise executive leadership on tax implications of business decisions, new markets, and product offerings.
  • Lead tax planning initiatives, including legal entity structuring, capital flows, and transfer pricing frameworks.
  • Monitor global tax policy developments (e.g., OECD initiatives, digital taxation) and assess business impact.

Global Tax Planning & Structuring
  • Design and optimize international tax structures to support growth, efficiency, and risk management.
  • Oversee cross-border transactions, intercompany arrangements, and financing structures.
  • Provide guidance on M&A activity, including due diligence and post-deal integration.

Governance, Risk & Compliance Oversight
  • Establish tax governance frameworks, policies, and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with global tax regulations, working with external advisors where needed.
  • Manage tax risk and controversy, including audits and interactions with tax authorities.

Function Build-Out
  • Define the vision, operating model, and roadmap for the tax function.
  • Hire and develop a high-performing global tax team over time.
  • Implement systems, processes, and tools to support a scalable tax infrastructure.

Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the primary tax advisor to the CFO and executive team.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Engineering / Product, and Operations to embed tax considerations into decision-making.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.

What You Bring to the Table

  • 10–15+ years of progressive tax experience, including leadership roles in multinational environments.
  • Deep expertise in international tax, corporate tax planning, and transfer pricing.
  • Experience within financial services, fintech, asset management, payments or similarly complex regulated industries.
  • Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a build phase environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or transforming a tax function.
  • Background in a high-growth or globally expanding organization.
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Professional certifications (CPA, ACA, CTA, or equivalent).
  • Law degree (JD or equivalent), particularly with a focus on tax or international business law.
  • Strategic thinking with strong execution capability
