About This Position
SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Equity & Inclusion supports Greenhill’s mission by cultivating relationships and facilitating programs that help students have what they need to participate fully in the life of the School and reach their deepest potential. The Associate Director is a thought partner to the Director of Equity & Inclusion on operational and strategic matters related to the Office of Equity & Inclusion with a focus on students, families, faculty, staff, and other constituencies of Greenhill School.
This is a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. Some evening and weekend work is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the operation and sustainability of the Student, Employee, and Family Inclusion Councils in collaboration with the Director of Equity & Inclusion.
- Facilitate the establishment and maintenance of student affinity groups, including support for adult sponsors.
- Plan and coordinate student experiences at various local and national conferences and gatherings.
- Partner with divisional leadership to create and implement student, employee, and family programming that supports the goals and objectives of the Office of Equity & Inclusion.
- Support planning and leading workshops and professional development opportunities on diversity, equity and inclusion for employees.
- Serve on academic divisional leadership teams, as invited.
- Represent the Office of Equity & Inclusion at events, outreach efforts, and school gatherings, as invited.
- Cultivate internal community relations by engaging with all school constituencies.
- Support the institutional equity and inclusion philosophy and action plan.
- Teach two academic classes or teach one class and lead an advisory.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Have at least five years of teaching experience (ideally across a range of age groups) with a demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to leadership development and DEI practice.
- Exhibit effective communication skills.
- Listen compassionately, nurture dialogue, think critically and strategically, and problem-solve.
- Model relationship-building skills and empathy, especially across difference.
- Display the qualities of flexibility, drive, organization, and follow-through.
- Demonstrate leadership, facilitation, and mentorship skills.
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree welcomed.
Specific Skills and Abilities:
- Have a desire to be part of a community that values difference and actively engages with it.
- Show a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (e.g., familiarity with concepts; evidence of relevant personal growth; examples of relevant practice, etc.).
- Be a motivated collaborator, possess a strong work ethic, and have a positive spirit.
