Position Summary

The Grocery Lead is not simply responsible for maintaining a department—they are a steward of product quality, a driver of hospitality, and a connector of the total market experience. This role sets the tone within the grocery department through presence, precision, and accountability, ensuring that every detail—from merchandising to guest interaction—reflects Pullman Market standards.

The Grocery Lead operates with full ownership of the category while supporting the broader retail ecosystem. They lead from the floor, coach in the moment, and execute with intention—balancing operational excellence with genuine hospitality.

Operational Responsibilities - Grocery Program Ownership

? Own the daily execution of the grocery department, including stocking, rotation, merchandising, and organization

? Maintain exceptional standards of product quality, freshness, and visual presentation
? Monitor inventory levels and proactively communicate product needs
? Support receiving, invoice accuracy, and inventory integrity
? Ensure all pricing and signage are accurate, consistent, and aligned with standards
? Partner with leadership on seasonal features, promotions, and product storytelling

? Lead with hospitality—modeling warmth, presence, and intentional guest engagement at all times
? Set the expectation for consistent, elevated service across the team
? Actively coach team members in real time, reinforcing the “why” behind the guest experience
? Create meaningful connections through product knowledge, recommendations, and storytelling
? Resolve guest feedback with urgency, professionalism, and care
? Support in-store activations, tastings, and experiences that deepen guest connection and drive loyalty

? Lead from the floor with strong visibility, communication, and accountability
? Support onboarding, training, and daily coaching of team members
? Foster a culture of ownership, engagement, and continuous improvement
? Provide leadership support in the absence of the Grocery Manager within scope of role

? Ensure all products meet standards for quality, safety, and merchandising
? Maintain a clean, organized, and service-ready department at all times
? Support inventory processes, including counts, receiving, and reporting
? Partner with leadership on cost awareness, waste reduction, and operational efficiencies

? Support front-end operations, ensuring accurate and efficient transactions
? Uphold and reinforce cash handling standards and accountability
? Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, and company policies
? Assist with daily reporting and communication of operational updates

? Operate beyond the grocery department—supporting all areas of the market as needed
? Step in during peak periods and events to ensure a seamless guest experience
? Model flexibility, teamwork, and a one-team mentality
? Actively contribute to a culture rooted in accountability, hospitality, and shared success

Requirements

? 2+ years of experience in grocery, retail, or hospitality
? Previous leadership or keyholder experience preferred
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills
? Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
? Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
? Demonstrated commitment to hospitality and team culture

Working Conditions

? 30–40 hours per week with schedule flexibility required
? Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 45 lbs
? Repetitive hand and wrist movements
